All-Russian Conference Involving the Management of State Nature Reserves and National Parks has been held in Khakassia

On August 27−31, the first all-Russian conference involving the management of State Nature Reserves and National Parks and devoted to prospects for the development of educational tourism on specially protected areas of federal significance was held in Khakassia. The conference was attended by more than 200 professionals, such as: directors and employees of 102 reserves and 45 national parks, representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, the Federal Tourism Agency, regional authorities and non-public organizations. 

Plenary reports were presented to the participants of the conference and the latter have discussed key issues related to the development of educational tourism on specially protected areas (SPAs) during 13 thematic sections. Section deliverables are summarized in the final Resolution of the conference.

During the conference, the meeting of the Expert Committee on Specially Protected Areas under the auspices of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation was held first time after a long interval (since 1995). The members of the Expert Committee have determined the most sensitive issues related to the functioning of SPA system to be discussed at the Committee’s sessions within the framework of 14 approved working groups. The Expert Committee will be gathered at least once a quarter.
