Tajik National Park

The territory of Tajik National Park includes the most outstanding natural complexes of the Pamirs - huge mountain system ramifying greatest ranges of the Central Asia and the world to the different sides: Hindu Kush to the south, Karokorum and Himalayas to southeast, Kuenlun Shan to the east, Pamir-Alai to the north and Parapamiz to the west. It protects valuable landscapes, rare and disappearing species of flora and fauna, natural, cultural and historical monuments. Territory of the park includes more than 100 endemic species of plants and animals, and many rare and dissapearing species. Snow leopard (Uncia ubcia) and the Red wolf (Cuon alpinus) included to the Red List of IUCN.
Within the borders of nominated site there are high-altitude Karakul and Sarez Lake, picturesque Sangvor Valley, Zaalay and Akademii Nauk mountain ridges with the highest peaks Somoni (7495 m) and Lenin (7134 m), huge Fedchenko glacier and Medveji glacier, hot and mineral springs, multitude other interesting natural monuments.
The Tajik National Park is the biggest protected area in Central Asia. Natural objects and landscapes of the park till now are not touched by man and serve as source of exceptional aesthetic pleasure and charged by inexpressible natural power.
