"Lena Pillars Nature Park" and "Bikin River Valley" nomination dossiers submitted to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology

New version of "Lena Pillars Nature Park" nomination dossier and "Bikin River Valley" nomination dossier (extension to "Central Sikhote-Alin" World Heritage property) were submitted to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation today.

Two properties were inscribed on the Tentative List of Russian Federation: "Lena Pillars", 2006, and "Bikin River Valley", 2010. If there is an approval of these documents, they would be submitted to UNESCO WH Centre until 1st of February 2011.

The "Lena Pillars" nomination is the result of collaboration between organizations from Moscow and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia): the Sakha (Yakutsk) State University, Institute of Diamonds and Noble Metal Geology of SB RAS, Lena Pillars Nature Park, RAS Institute of Geography, Russian Research Institute for Cultural and Natural Heritage and Natural Heritage Protection Fund. Specialists from the RAS Institute of Palaeontology and German Academy for Nature Conservation on Vilm Island were assisted in new nomination version creation.

The "Bikin River Valley" nomination was prepared by Natural Heritage Protection Fund jointly with Bureau for regional outreach campaigns, Vladivostok, RAS Institute of Geography and Cultural and Natural Heritage Institute named after D. S. Likhachev under the auspices of WWF Amur Branch.
